Product Description

2019 was another banner year for smartwatches and wearables, with worldwide sales of individual units on pace to surpass last year’s volume by nearly 26 percent. Driving these figures were the usual suspects—Fitbit, Apple, Garmin, and Samsung. We’ve compiled the very best of these devices into our list of top wearables of 2019.

Fitbit Versa 2

One of the most welcomed surprises of 2018 was the Fitbit Versa. With stunning looks, a ton of exercise modes, and excellent battery life, it ranked as one of the best smartwatches of the year. This year, Fitbit returns with the aptly named Fitbit Versa 2, a worthy follow-up that embraces the lauded features of the original Versa and adds some nice updates, to boot. Of those upgrades, arguably the most notable are the inclusion of Alexa support, improved sleep metrics, and somehow even better battery life, which now runs up to six days. Its other standout features include a super-crisp 1.6-inch AMODLED touchscreen and some best fitness-tracking features on the market. Add to that a reliable optical heart-rate monitor and local storage for playing music directly from your wrist, and we’re once again talking about one of the best wearables of the year. However, like last year’s model, the one omission to the Versa 2’s long list of bona fides is that it doesn’t come with built-in GPS, meaning users must rely on their smartphone for GPS data. Whether this is a deal breaker or not depends on your needs and what you want out of a device, but even without onboard GPS, the Versa 2 is one of the best wearables of 2019.
