It’s a new year, a new NAMM show, and new series of V-Drums from Roland. Unlike its prior models, Roland’s freshly launched Acoustic Design Series merges the visual impact and vibe of a traditional acoustic set with the advanced versatility of V-Drums electronics. With three models to choose from—the VAD306 compact 5-piece kit, the VAD503 full-size 4-piece kit, and the VAD506 top-of-the-line 5-piece set, there’s an appealing option for every drummer.
Designed to save space while preserving the “acoustic kit” image, the VAD306 features shallow-depth wood shells and double-braced stands complete with cymbal boom arms and tom mounts. The main pieces include an 18" kick, two 10" rack toms, a 12" floor tom, and a 12" snare, plus the TD-17 drum module, which is loaded with sounds inspired by the beloved TD-50 sound engine and brings 10 new presets focused on delivering the acoustic drum experience. Cymbals include a 12" hi-hat, two 12" crashes, and a 13" ride. From the multi-ply, tension-adjustable mesh heads on the drums to total customization of the kit in the module, the VAD306 is made for a rewarding experience.
