Nikon Adds Animal Detection AF to Z 6 and Z 7 Cameras

Short Description:
Pet lovers, rejoice! Nikon has just released Firmware v3.0 for its Z 6 and Z 7 Mirrorless Digital Cameras, which adds an all-new Animal Detection AF feature to your camera. Similar to Nikon’s existing Eye AF technology, Animal Detection AF allows your Z-series camera to find the focus of a cat or dog’s eye automatically, thus improving the overall shot. Nikon is confident this new feature will be able to focus on even the furriest of four-legged friends, meaning you’ll get premium pet portraits each and every time.

Enjoy improved focus tracking with firmware version 3.0.
Of course, Animal Detection AF wasn’t the only new feature Nikon rolled out with the update. Firmware v3.0 also improves the overall operation of focus tracking. Shortcuts to toggle subject tracking on and off more easily were added, as well as an option to assign subject tracking to the Fn button. The new assignment option should make subject tracking easier and more convenient while you’re in EVF or Auto-Area AF mode.
