If you’re a music producer, remixer, performing DJ, or songwriter, you’re probably already familiar with Ableton Live. However, if you are currently confined to a life of pointing and clicking with a mouse, it’s time you leveled up and got a keyboard controller that can transform your creative processes. Available in 25-, 37-, 49-, or 61-key models with a host of improvements over the MK2 versions, the Novation Launchkey MK3 is exactly the type of inspiring controller you deserve.
All four models come with serious upgrades from the MK2 iterations. The 16 RGB performance pads are now larger and feature improved velocity sensitivity for more dynamic response. The 3-character screen has been swapped for a 2 x 16-character display, so you can better see what you’re selecting or controlling. Whereas the Launchkey MK2 had no chord modes, scale modes, or arpeggiator, the MK3 boasts all three—fixed/user/scale chord modes let a single key trigger full chords, you can map scales to the keys so you never have to worry about hitting a wrong note, and the arpeggiator offers seven playback types and rhythmic control.
