Nikon has introduced two new FX-format lenses to its ever-expanding lineup of Z-mount lenses: the NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S ultra-wide zoom and the high-speed NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S.
NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S Lens
Landscape, architectural, and wide-field environmental portrait photographers will welcome the NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S, an ultra-wide zoom with an angle-of-view range of 84° to 114° (61°to 90°in DX format) and a maximum aperture of f/2.8 throughout its zoom range.
Billed as "the shortest and lightest 14 to 24mm f/2.8 constant-aperture zoom available," Nikon's new Z-mount ultra-wide zoom lens features an STM AF motor for quick and quiet autofocusing for stills and video, along with Nano Crystal, ARNEO, Fluorine, and Super Integrated lens coatings for reduced flare, ghosting, and other image-degrading optical aberrations.
Nikon's new zoom features 112mm front filter threads as well as a filter slot by the rear lens element that accepts trimmable gel filters.
The NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S contains 16 lens elements in 11 groups, focuses down to 0.92' (maximum magnification of 0.13x), measures a rather compact 3.5" by 5", and weighs a comparably light 23 ounces.
NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S Lens
For photographers with a penchant for shooting under the lowest of lighting conditions, Nikon has introduced the NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S. Sporting a maximum aperture about 0.44x faster than a 50mm f/1.4 lens, the narrow depth of field afforded by Nikon's latest high-speed 50mm allows portrait photographers to capture laser-sharp eyes with gently feathered foregrounds and backgrounds.
