Even diehard Sony DSLR apostles will be tempted to give Sony’s mirrorless cameras a try with the newly announced LA-EA5 Lens Adapter. This updated adapter expands AF capabilities when using legacy A-mount lenses on E-mount cameras while maintaining a sleek form factor and durable design.
Improved from previous models is the focal plane phase-detection AF, as well as the ability to shoot continuously at high speed with AF/AE tracking, up to 11 frames per second, as well as use sophisticated Real-Time Eye AF and Real-Time Tracking modes with a variety of lens and camera types. This focusing performance is available on SSM, SAM, and even AF lenses that lack an internal focusing motor, such as the Planar T* 85mm f/1.4 ZA or Sonnar T* 135mm f/1.8 ZA, and, if using an a7R IV or a6600, AF and AE tracking is supported with these motorless lenses. The adapter also has a sleeker cylindrical design to fit mirrorless bodies better, with an attached vertical grip.
