Google has announced the all-new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones. Featuring Google Tensor, a custom-made system on a chip (SoC) that utilizes Google’s advanced AI and machine learning technology, the new Pixel devices promise breakthrough performance and capabilities. The new phones also ship with a completely overhauled camera system that appears to be Google’s most advanced camera setup to date.
Google’s First Flagship
Although it has long been considered a top choice for users most interested in photography, the Pixel lineup has never been part of the “high-end smartphone” discussion. That was a conscious choice Google made—and it worked. Instead of paying obscene amounts of money for a smartphone that featured every sensor and en vogue gadget imaginable, Google gave consumers the option of paying a lot less money for the things they actually need. In terms of competitive pricing, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro don’t stray too far from that same ideology. However, make no mistake about it, these phones—especially the Pixel 6 Pro, the first Google smartphone truly worthy of the "flagship" moniker—are meant to go pound for pound with the biggest names on the market.
