Product Description

Dell’s latest generation of Precision workstations includes a 17-inch, slimline workhorse, the Precision 5760. The 5760 is fairly unique, because you don’t see many 17-inch laptops that offer this much power in such a lightweight form factor. We spent a few weeks with the Precision 5760 to see how it faired as a daily driver and where it might fit into various workflows. This is our review.

The New Dell Precision

At first glance, the latest iteration of Dell’s 5000-series 17-inch Precision laptop doesn’t look dramatically different from its predecessor. The new model features a strikingly similar—if not identical—aluminum chassis. It offers the same size touchscreen and resolution, the same caliber webcam, and roughly the same port configuration: four USB-C ports, a headset jack, and an SD card reader.

In fact, to locate a conspicuous difference between the Precision 5760 and its predecessor, you’ll need to look under the hood. There, you’ll discover multiple internal upgrades, including an updated Intel® Core™ processor, a significantly improved NVIDIA RTX GPU, and upgraded storage that now supports PCle4 NVMe.

Of course, those aren’t the only updates—just the most impactful. Support for the next generation of certain technologies is also onboard. For example, the USB-C ports we mentioned earlier now support Thunderbolt™ 4 and DisplayPort 2.0, a slight bump up from the previous generation, which “only” supports Thunderbolt™ 3 and DisplayPort 1.4.
