There is a new flagship in Aputure’s Light Storm lighting fleet—the Aputure LS 1200d. The new light is the brightest in the Aputure line and, according to the company, the highest output chip-on-board (COB) LED compatible with Bowens-mount modifiers. Let’s look at the company’s new standard-bearer.
The Aputure LS 1200d is a 1200W daylight-balanced COB LED that is designed to compete on the same level as industry-standard Hydrargyrum Medium-Arc Iodide (HMI) lights. The LS 1200d has an output of 83,100+ at 3 meters with a narrow Hyper Reflector. It is rated at color accuracy measurements of CRI ≥96, TLCI ≥98, CQS ≥95, and SSI (D56)≥73. As mentioned above, the light can accept Bowens mount modifiers such as the Aputure Light Dome, softboxes, and lanterns.
The LS 1200d, like other lights in the Light Storm Pro series, is weather resistant and employs waterproof fans, sealed internals, rubber caps for all ports, and weatherproof connectors. This allows you to keep your lights shining in demanding outdoor environments, as well as in the studio, when artificial precipitation is being employed.
