Battle-style DJs looking to make the move into the digital realm will be spinning in virtual circles with the announcement of this new pair of two-channel controller decks from Pioneer DJ, both with scratch-ready, battle-mount arrangements of the faders, wheels, and pads. The DDJ-REV7 for Serato DJ Pro software is the flagship model, designed with a maxed-out feature set for professionals, while the DDJ-REV1 is the streamlined, entry-level model that works with Serato DJ Lite software.
A quick glance at the DDJ-REV7 instantly reveals the new control configuration, with the tempo faders now placed horizontally above the jog wheels and deck sections to make the controls easier to access for serious scratching, just like a pair of PLX turntables set up in battle mode. In addition, the trigger pads and FX paddles have been moved to the center mixing section, just like the layout on the DJM-S Series mixers popular with turntablists.
