Product Description

Nikon continues to strengthen its Z series lens lineup with the announcement that the NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2 S and NIKKOR Z 26mm f/2.8 lenses are in active development. The 85mm should check the box for an extra-premium portrait prime as a new member of the S-Line, while the 26mm f/2.8 joins Nikon's ultra-compact series as an accessible and slim wide-angle option.

Many details about the lenses have yet to be announced, but there is some information we can glean from Nikon's reveal. The NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.2 S is going to be a large optic with no corners cut. The S-Line branding backs its aims for class-leading optical performance and smooth, beautiful bokeh.

The f/1.2 aperture certainly guarantees some excellent depth-of-field control, although the lens does get larger, with an 82mm filter thread. It keeps all the usual Z series fixings, too, with a programmable control ring and large manual focus ring.

Joining the 85mm in this announcement is the NIKKOR 26mm f/2.8. This lens is perfect for aspiring photographers looking for a compact and lightweight wide-angle prime. Nearly a pancake lens in design, this is a lens that you can always have in your bag without any worry of being weighed down.

If you happen to be at CES 2023 in Las Vegas, you can stop by Nikon's booth for a look at these two new lenses.
